Homes

Devens offers a range of housing options to fit a variety of lifestyles.

Currently under construction along Grant Road, Emerson Green (www.emersongreen.com) is a walkable, community-focused neighborhood featuring traditional features like front porches, tree-shaded sidewalks, and a town green. The Emerson Green master plan calls for up to 124 potentially zero-net-energy homes, including a mix of single-family units, duplexes, townhomes, and rental apartments surrounded by green space. Phase I is selling quickly and the developers expect to start work on Phase II soon.

Developer Transformations, Inc. built twenty zero-net-energy homes and townhomes along Cavite Street and Adams Circle as a demonstration project to test the feasibility of developing reasonably priced, super-efficient homes. The project has been wildly successful and all of the units are privately owned. With photovoltaic panels, many of these homes generate more energy than they use!

The handsome brick colonials, bungalows, and townhomes lining Walnut, Elm, Auman, and Bates Streets date back to Devens’ time as the New England headquarters of the U.S. Army. These homes were renovated in the early 2000s by Aspen Square Management and are all privately owned today.

Also in the works is up to 120 units of age-restricted senior housing including affordable units to be built across the river in the Shirley Village Growth area. MassDevelopment is in early discussions with a preferred developer for the first 60 units. Stay tuned for more information.
